| Saving more than lives - 50,000 bees |
Fri. Aug 7th 2009
Day in and day out, the Hazlet First Aid Sq answers the emergency calls of our residents and those passing through our town. However, we never thought we would save 50,000 at one time. Yes, that is right, 50,000.....only problem, they are not humans. The squad recently found out that behind the facade in front of our building there was a bee hive..... a really big bee hive full of honey bees. A NJ Beekeeper estimated the amount of bees to be near 50,000. Instead of shooting the bees with a pesticide and killing them, the squad hired a beekeeper to collect the honeybees. Due to the fact that there is currently a honeybee shortage, we felt it was important to try and save as many bees as possible. Hazlet First Aid....all about saving lives - even those that are not human!
